Seminar “IPCC Report"

Content: Through presentations by the participants and lecturers, and subsequent discussions, an overview of the Working Group 1 (WG1) contribution to the 5th Assessment Report (5AR) of the IPCC (http://www.climatechange2013.org/) will be acquired. The 5AR WG1 report was published in September 2013, summarizes the state of knowledge on the physical science bases of Climate Chanage, and has attracted a lot of scientific and public attention. It will be the basis of the political climate debates to be held in Paris in November-December this year. The course starts with a short recap of the essentials of a scientific presentation.

2 ECTS - requirements: regular attendance and a presentation on a chapter or part of a chapter of the IPCC report (topics will be distributed during the first session)

Some prior knowledge on climate science is recommended. Exact time and room are still to be determined.

The module description (in German) is attached. The seminar is also part of the Master in Meteorology. The introduction and organizational part will be held in German, but all participants are encouraged to give their presentations in English.
