This course will cover the basic elements of statistics as relevant for scientists and engineers. Topics include: Descriptive statistics, probability calculus, estimation theory, testing of hypotheses, data analysis based on inverse methods. The goal is that the participant develops a robust understanding of the fundamentals which shall be a solid basis for further study.
